Processes change faster than software does. Adding an approval step, updating a limit or opening a new request form is, in most places, a job that joins the development queue and waits weeks. BPM breaks that dependency: a process stops being a piece of code and becomes a visual model that can be discussed and changed.

Leave, purchasing, expense approval, IT requests, quote approval, hiring — every recurring flow in the organisation is modelled in the same engine. Each step has an owner, a duration and an escalation rule; work that does not move on time is not lost, it is raised to the next level. With the form designer, opening a new request type takes as long as dragging the fields and writing the rules.

Process performance reports show where a process is jamming by measurement rather than assumption: which step waits longest, which approver forms the bottleneck, which request type is sent back most often. Improvement decisions then rest on data rather than impression.
